Depending on your unique situation, you may wish to choose one option over another, and knowing the pros and cons of each will make that choice easier.

Addiction treatment options

There are three options for addiction treatment, and each one is suited to a different situation.

Outpatient

Outpatient treatment involves a person going to a treatment facility for therapy, counseling, and other services. They can then leave the facility and go home or handle other responsibilities. Typically a person goes 2-3 times per week. This is beneficial for those that have work and other responsibilities. However, it can be time-consuming and inconvenient.

Inpatient

Inpatient treatment involves a person coming and staying at a rehab treatment facility for the duration of their program. This is the better option for those with severe addiction issues because there is more supervision and accountability. However, there is no privacy, and the person is stuck at the treatment facility.

At-home treatment

At home, the treatment allows a person to detox in the privacy of their home. It’s great for those that don’t want to travel but does not offer follow-up care.
